Comment:

I contracted with Yellowstone to put in a set of floor drains and vapor barriers in our 1300sqft basement. The company is a 'well-oiled machine', as the old saying goes. From initial contact through all the sales and installation steps, including follow-up after the work is completed. All the pieces of the sales and install process went extremely well. Sadly, it is rare to find a contractor that engages well these days, if they even show up at all! The Yellowstone team communicates well and executes well. Logistics is one thing, but what about the actual construction work? The crew that worked on my contract were about as good as they get. I was informed and consulted throughout the process: about the process, equipment storage, the product, adjustments, issues, schedules. They took care during the construction to insure my property was kept in order, with a minimum of disruption. I have nothing but praise for the quality of their work, their professionalism, and communications. The floor drain product is working well! We have flood irrigation on our property. (Pasture and hay field kind of area.) May irrigation primes the ground, and we get a little flow into the basement. June is when the torrent hits. For the last many years, this would be the start of having 1-2" of water in the basement for the remainder of the summer irrigation season. Tried putting in a French drain across the uphill side of the house and sealing the basement seams, but no joy on those solutions. Just too much water flowing in off the fields. The floor drains went in just as the May irrigation started. Last week the install and products got about as big a test as they are likely to see. With our June irrigation, we had heavy flows down the perimeter ditch for five days, with some constant light overflow into the yard four of those days. There was full on field flooding in the middle day of that stretch (my day for the water), with 3-4" of standing water in the lawns around the east and south sides of the house for about 12 of the 24 hours. This is typical of the monthly irrigation here. The floor drains and vapor barriers did their job! I could hear the water pouring into the sump like a small creek and could see a good flow going in the grated sections of the install. The 1/2hp pump was keeping up, but it got a workout on its duty cycles! There was some dampness in places in the basement floor: floor seams from the original construction and in the seams between the floor and the new concrete that went in over the drains. Very, very minor. Just damp spots and no standing water present. We have three more irrigation cycles coming up this season, but the May and June irrigation are usually where all the flooding problems start. I am now confident the drain system is going to handle it well. Thank you!¬ Services: Structural, Foundations, Footings
